the Narrow Road

The Narrow Road is an ambitious film project currently in production that I have been contributing to for the past year. I have been serving as lead concept art designer, swordsmith, amour technician, and web-based graphic designer for the film.

The film is based off of John Bunyan’s classic tale, The Pilgrim’s Progress. First published in 1678 (a story which inspired Author’s like Tolkien, Lewis, and Chesterton) The Pilgrim’s Progress has been called the greatest allegory ever written. The novel is a classic and has sold millions of copies around the world for generations, and been translated into over a hundred languages. This powerful, epic story chronicles the journey of a pilgrim in search of salvation from impending doom. Christian, the pilgrim and the story’s protagonist, must travel an obstacle-filled road wrought with unique, passionate, and even wicked characters on his road to the beautiful Celestial City. The book is a powerful allegory of the life of faith, and the struggle that ensues when we search for freedom from our sin and salvation in the only one who can give it. The story deals with deep theological issues in a simple yet powerful way. Audiences that love the book for its message, its simplicity, and its adventure will likely also love this film that remains true to Bunyan’s original story. Modern cinematic techniques will be used to set the film in a “dreamlike” world, as Bunyan imagined the story, with historical period settings reflecting a fantastic medieval era.

In the Summer of 2011 after months of work, the Narrow Road film team shot a short 5 minute test scene, to show investors and build excitement for project and where it could go. The finished product is just a small and simplified taste of what’s truly to come in the future for this film:
